System Requirement

    We will make a portable Tx / Rx module which is able to transmit  location information received from GPS  to receiver.

1. Powered by battery.

2. Power consumption must be as low as possible.

3. Distance. The max. distance is designed to be  150 to 200 M in open field.

4. Transmission speed should be no less than 1200 bps.

5.  Capable of PC connection.

Evaluation

   1. Preliminary test:

• Establish the transmitter and receiver blocks: Antennas , crystals, capacitors adjusting, assembling components.

• Understand the Data stream Format.

• Function generator and oscilloscope will be used as signal source and monitor in preliminary test.

    2. Computer based test:

• Use PC1 to generate data stream and at variable bit rate.

• Connect transmitter to RS232 of PC1 use PC1 to control transmitter.

• Examine the data stream from the receiver, and use the designed program in PC2 to calculate Error Rate.

• Change transmission range and data rate to check whether it meets our need.
