From tuku@cisl.columbia.edu Wed Apr 3 14:37:17 2002 Date: Wed, 3 Apr 2002 14:37:17 -0500 (EST) Subject: Once again it is that time of the year which is also known as Spring! Now that spring is finally here, looking back at winter seems as if it was a long long night. The night had its beauties, but now that it is day again, it is time to celebrate! It has been a perfect day today. The day was bright, warm and sunny - now the sky suddenly became dark, threateningly poised. A quick heavy thunderstorm - and for us desis it will be a day to remember... :) Walking around you'll see the trees heavy with their white flowers. If you come out early in the morning, the soft fragrance of the nightly white flowers seem to deluge everything. Some of them are still waking up - they are full of buds. It just makes one wonder, where was all this life locked up throughout the cold, dark winter? Little green blades springing out of the earth bursting into bright yellow and red - when did they silently come out? We never saw them coming out... Nature goes in its own way, we are attached to our own lonely world. Looking at ourselves, we realize that it is spring only after the birds start chirping, after the plants bend with their blossom... Before winter we had planted more than ten thousand daffodil bulbs in a park uptown. They had come as a gift from Netherlands to the city of New York. They should have bloomed by now. I think I'll go there and see... :) For all those who want to know the names of the flowers, I don't have many pointers. Just remember the song, "Cherry Pink and Apple Blossom white..." :) Cheers!
